Production Rehearsal

Production!

The pressure was coming. It was only minutes till our fist show and Mrs. Hobbs saying that all the night shows had sold out was not helping our nerves. So there I sat in one of Mrs. Strathern's chairs getting old make up and way to much glitter applied to my face. The rain is hitting room nines window like stones so by the time I got to the hall I was lucky not to have any mascara running down my face. I quickly dash across the stage, grab my microphone and make it to my starting position only seconds before the lights go out. The lights light up again and I here Gracie's voice echoing across the stage, the music cuts her of and the spotlight moves to my scene, I take my first step onto the stage, it was my time to shine. We run through scene after scene without a hitch ( unlike rehearsal) until we get to the end the part were Rubi always forgets her line. Her face goes red. I quickly turn of my microphone and whisper the lines to her and relief flashes across her face. The crowd started clapping crazily. We had done it, we had performed our production that we had worked so hard on.

Only Up! 23.8.17

Only Up!

It was my choice, no harness no backing down. Despite the pain I’ve always loved rock climbing but this is the riskiest stunt I’ve tried yet. I’m feeling like a rising champion as my fingers grip onto yet another black finger hold. The volcano that stands to the left of me is now casting his shadow over the ocean meaning that the sun that had just been tapping on my shoulder was creeping away. “Shoot!” I mutter, I knew I should have started climbing earlier and it now looks like I’m having to face the consequences for climbing in the dark had not been what I’d signed up for. I can taste the saltiness of my sweat running over my lips making the dust that had escaped from the rock face stick to my face like an invisible sheet. I quickly step up my pace and put the nasty thoughts of me plummeting into the murky water below at the back of my mind. To take my mind off that I think about my future how when I do make it to the top I’ll be a worldwide champion or as some may say the best of the best. “Ahh!” My fingers are now aching I’d always thought I’d been nice and fit but at this moment I feel heavier than a hundred shot puts. A small grunt escapes my lips as I strain my muscles to take yet another lunge towards the top, towards victory. The weight of the parachute is most definitely not helping yet health and safety was right it was better to safe than sorry. I reach up but touch a ragged rock instead of another finger hold and the blood starts dripping out. Great. Just great. I’m still only ¾ of the way up but I’ve run out of strength, I quickly fiddle to find the parachute strap.“Ahh!” I scream, the tiredness and pain had gotten to me. I’d just let go.

A balancing act 16.8.17

A Balancing Act!

When you're standing on top of the world you're feeling nervous, passionate and tense. One more step will either lead to victory or death. He felt the rope beneath his feet the sun tapping on his shoulder as he takes yet another step closer to his goal. The clouds are his only company for he is higher than the birds can fly and closer to the stars than the ground.

Speech 2017!

Speech Reflection!

My speech topic this year was whether the government is doing enough to prevent smoking. I think they are. The things I should have done better were engage eye contact with the audience, read my introduction clearer and involve the audience more. Although I didn't do these thing I found some awesome facts and came up with a cool topic.

Native Bush Poem! 15.6.17

Native Bush Poem!

The chair stands like a solider, solid and strong.
While the leaves dance with the breeze to an unknown song.

The flax take up cheer-leading.
As the leaves from the treetops watch over looking like emerald beading.

The cobwebs perch between trees with all there glistening bends.
While the sun peers from behind the mountain meaning another day is at end.

Maths 5.5.17

Maths!

Today in maths Mrs. Hobbs has been teaching us how to copy, draw and build Isometric shapes. First we had to copy two shapes from the bord onto a piece of isometric paper. After that we had to come up with our own shape then build it out of blocks. This was really hard but fun when we got the hang of it, here's a picture of me and my shape.

What would happen if humans disappeard?

🐼🌵What would happen if humans disappeared?🌵🐼

Humans have a huge impact on animals habitat in fact were so important to some that if we were to disappear it could cause instinctshin to things like to rats, cockroaches and body and head lice. Within the first two weeks electricity would go out so electric fences will lose their sting causing around 1.5 billion cows, 1 billion pigs and more than 20 billion chocks to ether escape from their pen, become food for other animals or starve from not having humans feed them regularly. Without electric pumps roads and subway tunnels will become rivers along with that hundreds of houses made of timber will be wiped out by fire seen as their would be no fire fighters a single lightning struck would be enough to burn down a hole suburb. After 100 years their will be no wood buildings left and anything made of steel will be starting to disappear to. Steel is mostly iron and without humans consistently giving it layers of paints and coatings it will turn back to it's native form or rust. By now it's been a few hundred years and the animals that we had driven to near extinction will have repopulated leaving plant earth almost as we found it. Maybe animals would have been better of without us existing.

#Tapa Turtles!

Tapa Turtles!

This term with Mrs. Gibson we have been learning about Tapa Turtles. Tapa is a traditional cloth made in places like Fiji and Samoa. First they have to get the inner bark from a mulberry tree and beat it with a mallet until it transformed into a soft cloth like sheet. Then they put pressure on the cloth to make it flat. Once it is flat, people draw on traditional designs with dye made out of natural ingredients. Unfortunately there is no mulberry trees in Pirongia so we had to make our tapa turtle’s slightly different to the way I just told you. First we had to scrunch up a piece of Mrs. Gibson's good tec art paper then unfold it and repeat that pattern for a good 20mins, after a while the piece of paper will become soft like a real tapa cloth. After that we carved a sign that had something to do wit us into a piece of wood, then rolled indian ink over it and printed onto a piece of paper. In the middle of all this we have our tapa turtles which are turtles with designs on them and we have been over them with the skinniest paint brushes and ink. Completing our art and learning about tapa has been super fun and it would be cool to do it again!

Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics (last year)

Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics!

The pressure was crazy. The butterflies in my tummy were now jumping around like frogs. I could see family and friends peering down on me like Hawks from the grandstand as I wait for my turn on the track. “Take your mark, set bang!” exclaimed the starter, suddenly the 9 year old boys leap off like gazelles sprinting there hearts out know how big of a privilege it is if they manage to get a podium finish. I could see them crossing the finish line and my butterflies kicked into overdrive. It was my turn next!

I thought I wouldn't get nervous but I have never been so wrong. “Take your Mark!” he commands, I quickly crouch down only to have red rubber piecing my hands. “Set, bang!” The wind was whipping my face as eight girls charge to the finish line. The crowds voices were booming in my ears as loud as a rock band. But before long I find myself bopping my head, the white finish line underneath my foot. “Congratulations” and “Well done!” are only some of the words people around me were saying as I handed in my lane number. The race had been so close no one knew who had won, so we had to play a horrible round of the waiting game.

“Swoosh, swoosh,” whispers the grass as I stumble back to the Te Awamutu club tent. I see athletes sprinting the 400m like Olympians. Maybe I’m just not up to being a champion. “Aylee Gane over to the prize giving Tent, now please!” Boomed the speaker. Yay I had obviously gotten a placing. I quickly leap up onto the podium so one of the ladies could place a gold medal around my neck! “Congratulations you have just won the nine year old girls 60m!”

I am Poem 9.3.17

I am Poem!

I am sporty and cool.
I wonder what my future holds for me.
I hear the athletics start gun echoing in the back of my head.
I see myself standing on the podium, gold shining on my chest.
I want to be a champion.
I am sporty and cool.

I like to pretend to be a silver fern.
I feel my opposition harshly shove me.
I can feel an Olympic medal underneath my fingertips.
I worry about the bad sportsmanship in the world.
I am sporty and cool.

I understand when you have a desire to do something.
I say a winner is a dreamer that never gives up.
I dream about being the best I can.
I try to never give up (even though sometimes I fail).
I hope to have success in the future.

I am sporty and cool.

Coming back from leadership day 2017! (24.2.17)

Coming back from Leadership Day   2017!

"Omg, these are so delicious!" We all yell with delight. "I'm so glad I came with the boys instead of Ella's dad," I think. Thanks to Leaser (Josh Shaw's Mum) we were sitting in the car windows down licking lemonade ice-blocks. The wind was whipping my face like a whip although I was still having an amazing time. As we drove into the school car park we can heard the hot tassel screaming underneath the cars wheels. I quickly run over to the cloak bay but sadness suddenly creeps over me. Mums forgotten to bring my togs down to school. "Ooh dumb!" says Mrs.hobbs, "You can just jump in in your cloths!" "Yay!" I scream and jump into the cool sapphire water.
